Waldeinsamkeit; Or, Woodland Solitude - Video / Sound Installation - 2012
“Waldeinsamkeit, a word originating from German romanticism untranslatable to English. However, to explain its meaning creates an ambiguous description; “The feeling of being alone in the woods”. Burton’s practice studies this notion closely, referencing folklore and its relation to contemporary pre-conceptions of the solitary experience and man’s removal of himself from ‘the natural‘.” - Statement from NUCA Degree Show 2012
NUCA Degree Show Private View 4pm-7pm June 26th.
Exhibition open until 3rd July

Documentation of performance work dealing with the notion of geographical displacement. A bottle containing the water of the North Sea is dropped into the river Wensum in Norwich. The bottle sinks just below the surface and drifts downstream until reaching its final destination from where its contents originates.
Here are some images I’m submitting to the Photocopy Club London Show which is taking place in June. Each image is a Xerox copy on marble effect paper. If you like them, you can have one yourself for the very reasonable price of £3. I will only do a run of 5 editions from each image.
